As a freelance marketer you’re constantly learning, reading, and hearing more about the industry and ever changing landscape. With so much information out there and so many different perspectives it can be hard to keep up. Podcasts are perfect for busy freelancers because you can listen and learn while you do pretty much anything else like driving or making dinner.
Whether you’re looking for something to help broaden your marketing knowledge, learn a new skill, build your brand or business, tap into other creative outlets, or let your brain switch gears for a few here’s a list of great podcasts straight from our community.
CALL TO ACTION
From the team at Unbounce, Call to Action breaks down everything from strategy and planning to execution, measurement and optimization.
Hosted by Paul Jarvis, founder of the Creative Class, Freelancer gives straightforward advice and is probably the most authentic and genuine podcast about the industry. It’s perfect for creative freelancers in everything from design to writing.
THE FIZZLE SHOW
The Fizzle Show is described as “conversation about entrepreneurship in general, building a thriving audience, and the battle of supporting yourself doing something you actually care about.” Community Manager Cory Moyta says “it’s one to not miss.”
A TINY SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT
This particular podcast is great, especially for writers. Not only is it funny and entertaining, but it’s incredibly thought-provoking. They often give a glimpse into current works in progress so it’s great to hear and learn about the process.
One of the community’s favorite podcasts is Reply All. Mariana De Lucca loves it because of the great storytelling and she always “learns something new about the internet and the way it shapes us.”
This is another podcast that comes up often on a “must listen” list. Scott Webber says it’s “always a great listen, especially if you are in any way involved in or fascinated by design.”
Business Development Director, Maria Baer, loves Start Up. She said it “gives a ton of insight into the makings of a start-up company.” And Reply All happens to be one of the podcasts that spun off from Start Up.
THIS OLD MARKETING
From Joe Pulizzi and John Rose of CMI, This Old Marketing is Kim Owens’ favorite. She said, “even if you’re a marketing veteran, there’s always something to learn.”
THE DINNER PARTY DOWNLOAD
The Dinner Party Download is exactly what it sounds like, a dinner party. Guests come on for a short interview, they dish about current events and random facts and there’s always a themed cocktail. It’s great to quickly brush up on current happenings and learn a good joke or two.
THE MEMORY PALACE
Each podcast gives short, non-traditional, surprising stories about the past. Perfect for history buffs or anyone who just likes really great storytelling.
GRAMMAR GIRL QUICK AND DIRTY TIPS FOR BETTER WRITING
This podcast is extremely helpful. It takes even some of the most confusing grammatical rules and explains them in a way anyone can understand. A must if you’re doing a lot of writing and editing.
